Garner State Park

View from Painted Rock Overlook

Garner State Park is located in the Texas Hill Country, about 90 miles west of San Antonio, in Uvalde County. Nestled within the majestic Frio Canyon, the park has 2.9 miles of river frontage along the crystal-clear Frio River and some of the best views in the Texas Hill Country.

The park offers a remarkable combination of relaxation and adventure, with its 16 miles of scenic hiking trails, panoramic vistas, seasonal wildflowers, numerous water sports, and a variety of camping options. Casual and experienced hikers will enjoy the network of trails along the river, through the woods, up rugged limestone cliffs, and in the backcountry — away from the crowds.

Although Garner's main draw is the beautiful Frio River, it truly is a year-round destination, offering something for everyone. If you're a first time visitor to Garner or returning for your annual visit - don't forget to pack your hiking boots and hit the trail. A morning hike, followed by a swim in the Frio River makes for a perfect day!
